Ah, another day at work...

At breaktime, this old desi guy (who calls all the female desi employees "mata rani", sings traditional indian songs outloud while working on the assembly line, and always calls me 'buddy' & gives me a pat on the shoulder--even though I never speak to him or try to make any contact whatsoever) came by my table.. gave me a pat on the shoulders and said (in an Apu-like accent), "when you are done eating your lunch (@ 3:30am), come to our table and we will play games." (they had a box of dominoes). After this generous invitation, I proceeded to take my pleasant time finishing the rest of my "lunch" and maintained my distance for the remainder of the night.
(Sitting in the cafeteria, I could barely contain my laughter about this incident as I thought of sharing it on my blog and the comments I might receive)

On a different note, when I got home and went to check the mail, I could see & hear a dog in someone's backyard whimpering by the door. I was pretty upset, because this dog was obviously outside all night long in -8 degrees. I felt like calling the Humane Society.
If they can't take care of the dog, or if it isn't house-trained then they shouldn't have gotten one in the first place. It really hurts to see pets or any kind of animal for that matter being mistreated or neglected. When I bought a rabbit a few months ago and was unable to look after it because of an allergy I didn't know about, it killed me inside whenever I passed by and saw it depressed and cuddled up in one corner. Luckily, I was able to sell him within about a week of learning I was allergic to him. If anyone cares about the full story with that rabbit, just ask.

Rabbits are so cute. Glad you found it a good home.

-8 degrees?!? Wow. The lowest temperature we've had so far is about 38 degrees. During the day a windbreaker will do. It's depressing. I love winter...but we never get snow.

-8 is nothing "up here" in Canada...
it dips much lower than that every winter. How's -40 sound?
