"hey, we're $25 short"

I went to this (Jewish owned) Moroccan restaurant yesterday for a friend's birthday.
At the end of the meal, everyone pitched in their share for the cost of the dinner.
I guess we didn't notice because we were all preoccupied with calculating how much we each owed but whatever the case, it doesn't give the owners the right to say "you only tipped us 10%, usually on a big meal we should get 15%"

They actually said that to you? Damn that's rude. I'd have taken back all of my tip.

(Yeah, I understand that they work hard and such, but still, that kind of attitude is going to prevent people from coming back to the restaurant.)

My rant is over.

well, atleast they hopefully didn't overcharge you. In paris, dining in the old jewish quarters, at one restaurant we payed more than the locals.
food was good though. :)
