I've used a very similar quote by him in an essay :)

Very fitting to his work though cause he "releases" what he sees.. like some of it is still in stone.. like uncomplete .. but beautiful

The stone is a stone - submitting to Allah (swt), until you make it into a statue, which could be the start of shirk. Correction: which is likely to be the start of shirk.
