David Copperfield
So we went to see David Copperfield perform at the Hummingbird Centre tonight.
You see magic shows all the time on TV, but seeing it live is just amazing.
On screen, you can say "oh, he did this... and this is what must have really happened" but making 13 audience members disappear simultaneously and then reappear a spilt second later at the back of the theater leaves you scratching your head.
There were three or four "big" acts and a few smaller ones during the hour and a half show. First, he made his entrance onto stage by appearing on a motorcycle inside a previously empty box.
The way he chose audience participants was by throwing frisbees into the crowd and picking whoever caught it. (So that takes away the idea that they were in on it).
He also made a Lincoln Cadillac appear out of nowhere.
Later on, he transported himself to Hawaii and back. He took a photo of a group of audience members, got one person to sign it and another to write two letters on his forearm. When he was "in" Hawaii, he showed the photo (on the large screen in the theater) and the letters on his arm to prove that he was really there. Brought back some sand too.
Whether you call it slight of hand, or sinister black magic, you can't help but laugh and be amazed when these things happen right infront of your eyes.

Slight of hand? Maybe.
But maybe he works with the jinn. Wa na'uthu billah.
>:D
Sounds pretty interesting! I can never stop thinking about how they do those things when I see stuff like that.
