Indian Idol

Aah... where to begin?
So it's down to the final four contestants. Two really good ones: Amey and Karunya, and two "ok" ones: Anuj and Sandeep.
This week's episode was something you'd never see on American Idol. They had it narrowed down to the bottom two contestants (Anuj and Amey) and Amey was voted out (although he was 10x better than Anuj). After that announcement, Sonu Nigam spoke on behalf of all three judges and said, "We won't have any part in this." Then they walked out.
The audience also began protesting. Loudly. Security was called in. The hosts tried to calm everyone down, to no avail.
Then the judges came back and basically demanded a rematch. Amey, being the better one, refused and said he accepted the public's decision.
So now he's out and it's down to Karunya up against Anuj and Sandeep (the last two have made it this far purely on luck or some sort of conspiracy since their performance and singing really sucks compared to the other two).
I say conspiracy, because in a poll taken on Indian Idol's site, the question was asked "Who do you think will become the next Indian Idol?"
Amey was first with 51%, Karunya with 35%, Sandeep with 12% and Anuj with a mere 2%. Even in the previous poll, Amey was voted most interesting to chat with online (50%) and Anuj with 9%.

I don't want any comments accusing me of racism, but I think either there really is some sort of conspiracy, or the Indian voting public is just plain stupid. Each week, they've voted out the best performers and left the worst ones in the competition. (Note: I may be wrong, but unlike American Idol, the public can vote as many times as they want).

(Anu Malik, one of the judges, continues to sign on the voted-out contestants. He's promised contracts to atleast three of them on air)

Some random Indian Idol blog I came across.

Assalaamu Alaikum :)

Oh my gosh! Someone I can discuss how stupid Indian Idol is! Okay, you know something is wrong with the show when the FIRST contestant to be voted out is Sagar. tsk tsk.

It's the public, they're not too bright. They've done the same on another program. I really want to know what they're voting for.

And besides, we've noticed that if you're from the North, you get crazy votes. Sorry but Anuj has got to go.

Hyderabadi all the way!!
(I'm hyderabadi hehe)

And yes, I'm a Yorkie Dorkie and Weebee is my bestest bud

lol just because these days I'm so free, I've ended up following it and getting attached to the show :s and yes I think there's some rigging or something going on, probably the audience is just voting anuj on his looks :s

"Aah... where to begin?"
DON'T!

Umar, I really don't know why you are wasting your time on this. I always thought you were above such things. Maybe I was wrong. tsk.

I'm reminded of my Indian songs now. Blast.

Hmm Umar, do you know a girl named Eleni? She's in the same program as you but I'm not sure if in the same year.. btw what year are you in?

I was pretty hooked on Canadian Idol in the summer because I knew someone who tried out.. I never liked the American one though.. and I didn't even know there was an Indian one too :S

squeeky - sagar was good, but he was a bit too energetic.
pana was good too, but i hated the way he danced... always kept his legs 5 feet apart.
i still think the votes are being tampered with. (maybe the person incharge of counting em likes one of the crappier guys)

em - i guess not :)

anonymous - "anuj" and "looks" do not belong in the same sentence.

asmaa - BOO-urns

liya - yup, i know eleni.. she's in the same year as me: 3rd. i only have one class with her, but since it's a lecture-type class, it doesnt really count.
and oh, last thursday, i was delivering some stuff to a few design firms downtown, and i went to this one that's located in the same building as the canadian idol head office.

Umar, what "stuff" where you delivering exactly? I can't recall.
